I was wheeling and started crossing some deep trenches and believe it or not I busted by D60 housing in half! Broke the casting on the short side so it separated from the diff housing by a half an inch. I dont think I ever saw one of these break like this. I hit the trench pretty hard but I don't think hard enough to do this. At any rate looks like I found a housing and I need to move my internals to the replacement housing and I need a good source to walk me thru it. Anyone know a good manual on D60's? Oh yea another question: When i installed this axle I relocated the perches and I must have damaged both seals (heat damage) as they both leaked afterward. I would like to install all my internals and set my ring to pinion clearances on the bench. Is there a way to relocate and weld the perches without damaging the seals?

Use the old one for the placement before you assemble. Just make sure you have equal distance from pad to end of tube on both sides.

Thanks for the tip and the resources. I will give it a try. My housing broke completely to the point that I can see the axle shaft and it is bearing the weight of the front end. I have a trac loc diff and I was wondering what should I be looking for in the way of damage when I take this apart. I know I have to check the axle shaft as it is probably bent but what else?

There is an enourmous amount of information avaliable on the D60 in the net.

I'd weld up the perches before you moved anything from one housing to the other..........

Excellent Point! I have about 2.5 inches of space for front drive shaft to compress. I am wondering if that is enough? Maybe the shaft wouldn't give so the housing did? I should have the replacement housing tomorrow so I can start getting her back together.
