I've seen some great rigs on here running this setup, but I am confused as to how complicated it is. Are there any internet resources that explain the conversion process, preferably step by step? An SOA conversion plus a 3" body-lift would surely be high enought to fit 35" tires, wouldn't it?

A spring over by itself would fit your 35s. I'm running a spring over with Rancho 2" springs and have room to clear at least 38s. its not a hard process, just with a little know-how.

Getting a level side to side stance with the SOA perches is another area that must get attention since one prech sits on the axle tube and one sits on the cast housing of the diff. This takes a bit of modification of the new perches prior to final welding to the axle.
Once the axle perches are set in place, the steering issues, brakelines and shock mounting is all that is left.
Steering can be corrected in a few ways.... high X-over steering, like I have.... or a 4-6" drop pitman arm can achieve the correction, or depending on what springs (stock or lift) a combo of both can be used.
Extended brakelines can be bought pretty easily, so no problems there.
