I'm looking for pics of any project conversions of a J truck cab into a J truck quadcab. I've seen the www.froadin.com (http://www.froadin.com) yellow J300/M715 conversion.
I also saw a nice red one somewhere on the www two weeks ago but forgot to bookmark it.
Anyone got any pics or links for me?
Thanks.

best I can do...no description...yound it on some Europen BB a while a go.
wow, that looks pretty good. To bad Jeep did not build that truck and add a diesel as an option.
What did they do, chop the back off a 4 dr wagoneer and put it on a longbed truck frame. Then shorten the bed.

That yellow one is from Tim Melton (tmelt@triotel.net). He emailed me with the picture and said it was a 64 J 300, and it took him 6 months to build it. That was the only information he sent me, and did not respond to my emails.

The yellow one rocks. The black one should give it's life so that other Jeeps might live.

Don't forget about those sweet quadcab FSJ's made in Brazil. Best looking ones I have ever seen.
The Yellow one deserves an award of some kind. I love it.

Concur.
The owner of the black one states that he used a J10 front clip and cab, a Waggie backend, and three J truck beds sliced & diced.
What a shame...

FSJeeper,
Got pics or links to the Brazilian FSJ quadcabs you mention?

I like that yellow one, but I think my preference would be for a super cab dually w/shortbed.
John over at wagoneers.com is doing up an '83 supercab sportside that oughta look pretty sweet.
I'm partial to the visor over the window though and even consider modifying one of my previous Cherokee laredos to have the brow and truck 3" higher roof line all the way back.

Yeah, I wish he would have given more information then just the picture. Maybe I will email him agian.
I too like the eyebrow. I wouldn't want a truck without it.

And it's kind of funny LRRH that you found that picture on a euro board. That was the picture I edited in the first place. (didn't know too many peopel looked at my site).
hehe.....I was looking for Super Wag parts the other day and found a board in the NL I believe where they were talking about "rare" jeeps and someone posted this pic. But I don't speak the language so I just stole the picture. =)

The yellow one is sweet. Funny, but gas is like $4/gallon in Europe. Obviously not a concern to the owner. Anyway, its one nice rig.

Yellow one isn't in Europe. They just copied the picture from my site.

Can someone with a J-truck longbed measure from the rear door jamb to the center of the rear axle? I'm trying to figure out what the wheelbase of a J-truck crewcab would be if you did it correctly.
And if someone has both a truck and wag, can you get from the center of the front axle to the back door rear door jamb?

Ok, he replied back to my email, and sent a couple more pictures.
Click on my home page below, and then click on his picture to take you to a few more pictures of his truck, and a brief description of what's in it, and some of what he did.
I will send him a reply telling him about this website, no doubt there.

Later,
Joe HLooks like the frame was stretched about 6"?
On my 119" SWB, it measures 50"s from the back of the door and 44"s from the back of the cab to the centerline for the rear wheel. A long wheelbase is 133"s so just add 14"s.

Now, Ida whacked that brow off the jtruck and put it on the wagon roof and raised the whole roof line up. That's one sweet truck.... maybe it's a good thing I don't have a shop right now, I just found a couple of wagons not far from home.
I like it though, and his motor rocks (526hp)... like to see what torque it dynoed with.

I e-mailed Joe and told him that I got a measurement of approx. 61 1/2" from the outer door jamb to the centerline of the wheel well. Of course this is from my post '74 J20 LWB trucks.

I've been thinking about doing a truck like that for while now. I've never had a place to work on a long-term project though. That has changed now.
I would have to use the pickup roof for the extra height and the brow (using a Waggy section for the stretch like he did), that slope looks wrong. I would use a normal bed. That shortened wheelbase in the bed looks odd. I would also prefer mine to be a dually by using stepside fenders cut down somewhat and bolted to the fleetside bed for the dual rear wheels.
I just may try this next summer. I now have access to a good shop and room to store something like this.

I've got a donor J2000 and a 94 Dodge Cummins dually 4x4 that I can't get a title on because I bought it as salvage so if I can get a title on my donor J2000, I may just put the two together.
Question, who on here knows how to stretch a frame? Tips, advice or offers of help greatly appreciated...

stretch a frame? Cut the frame, sleeve the inside with a piece of square tubing long enough that it extends into each end of the cut frame a good 6". Weld it up solid and cover the sleeve with another piece of frame.
Hammer

Don't forget to make the cuts/welds in a Z shape for much great strength.

Ouch, that too! Wonder what he hit, cause the frame isn't really all that weak for the bumper, and the axle housing it seriously heavy duty (just weak axle shafts).

Well, it seems Tim Melton had another creation besides the yellow quadcab.
He made a hard top convertible J truck. And the picture looks real nice.
I will post the pictures soon on my site.
Btw, I guess the northerners need something to do all winter and can get projects like this done in one winter.

I couldn't find it when I went back either, but I copied what Hammer had written before:
"Tim Melton’s crew cab:
Tim started with a 1964 J 300 and a 1985 Grand Wagoneer, it has a 73 401ci engine bored .30 Kieth Black custom pistons, Comp Cams: cam, springs, pushrods, and roller rockers. Rhoads lifters. Performance American guide plates. Headman hedders, Flowmaster dual 3" exhaust, MSD 6 AL, and matching distributor, PAW custom rods, Edelbrock Air Gap intake, Predator carburator. The heads were plained, ported and pollished.
The engine dyno read 526 hp at the crank. 5 more than the 401 in Hot Rod magazine, which was the basis for the build.
The trans is a Turbo 400 built by Trans Pros with a TCI 2000 rpm stall. Transfer case is a NP 208 (hope it can handle it).
Rear end is a GM 12 bolt 3.73 with an Eaton locker. The front is a Dana 44 with a mini spool.
The tires are 35 x 15.50 x 15 Super Swamper TSL SX on 15x10 american racing wheels. The front bumper was a flat piece of steel that he formed into a protective mass.
The J 300 box is shortened 24", and the frame is lengthened and boxed in 8" behind the rear spring mount..16" of the rear cab is all that remains of the J300 cab, the suspension is a 4" SkyJacker. The interior remains almost the same as the Wagoneer originated, aside for the B&M Star gate shifter. The color is vivid canary yellow. This truck is Tim's daily driver, and oh what fun it is to drive.....
All the work was done at his home in the garage...
By trade Tim is the Parts manager for a local Ford dealership.....hahaha"

There is a quadcab truck not 10 miles from my house that sits out and sees very little use. It looks exactly like a 4 door Cherokee with the short amount of bed behind the rear seat out in the open. If you look up at the headliner, you'll see a splice right where that roof would end in these trucks.
Verrry interesting...
