hmm... don't know about the manual tranny, but if ya wanted to go with an automatic, I could help ya... basically, you need custom motor mounts, and the complete SBC makes it easier with the alternator, PS pump, etc.. is the bellhousing removeable on that tranny?

I think the bell housing is removable. But what about wiring and things like that?

if the bellhousing is removeable, you MAY??? be able to swap a chevy tranny bellhousing in there with it... As far as the wiring goes..I think that all the important stuff will swap right over...How familiar are you with the SBC? if you know your way around an engine pretty well, just pop your hood and look around.. see what stays with the engine, and what is just wiring for other stuff. anything that has to plug into the engine somewhere, is prolly sensors for temp, iol, etc.. and the rest of the stuff will prolly be alternator wiring, and you can just unbolt that and set it aside and then mount it to your SBC,, (I think)Best way for your peace of mind, is pop the hood, and look around like you were in the process of disconnecting everything and hooking it back up... what will still fit on the SBC? most of the sensors will... that's bout all I know as far as the wiring... I am putting a 454 in my 69 J3000 right now, and its pretty simple cept for the fact that I had no alternator or PS with the donor engine, and am having a hard time finding the bracketry and proper pump for it... mine is an automatic TH400, and it is already a Chevy TH400 rather than the GM TH400 that most use. the only thing you have to do with an automatic, is buy a Chevy 400 case from a wrecking yard and put the guts from a good 400 in it.If ya need a chevy 400, I just conveniently happen to have one in my backyard..... :D :D
Like I said, I don't know alot about converting from a manual... but if ya wanna go automatic, then I can help ya from my own experience... Ive swapped a 350 into a tota before too..
