Yesterday I changed tires from 35x14.5 Mickey Bajas to a set of 32x11.5 ATs that I had on my other Jeep. Net result - almost no bump steer. I definitely would not reccomend running Mickeys with a SOA unless you had hi-steering.

Hey, roll those wheels up my way! I'd love a set of 35" M/T's for my Cherokee! smile.gif

JCE,

I think you're referring to the way the Bajas 'bite' the ruts in the road, my swmampers do the same thing on much LARGER scale.... changing tires does'nt affect bump steer... only draglink angle will affect bump steer which is affected by suspension geometry mostly.

I agree though... a less agressive tread pattern gives control back to the operator and makes you more comfortable behind the wheel

Thanks for the correction RB. Bob there's not much tread left.

I have found that a lot of the steering problems can be cured just by switching from bias ply mud tires to radial mud tires even if the radials are bigger. My wag was all over the place with the bias plys and the radials made it drive like a new rig.

Yup, that confirms it, I'm definately gonna stick with the radials! Tires will wander a lot too, when they get worn out. :D
