Hey guys,
Are the doors off of a late 80's grand wagoneer going to fit correctly on a 79 J20?
If so...I want to put them on for the power windows and door locks.
Thank you...

the doors are the same size.the only thing i can think of is the door latch posts.they change around in 80 give or take a few years.

They will bolt right up don't get me wrong they just may or may not shut.
Does your Jeep have the crow foot style latch on the factory door or the round knob looking deals?

Dont know....I dont have the J20 yet to check.
I guess that makes a difference if it will work or not?

They will fit, you just have to have the same latches and strikers. Either both newer or both older.

They'll fill the hole ok but depending on if your 79 has the early or later hardware you may also have swap that stuff too.

Yes, fronts will - rear only if they both have them :p
Waggy's, Cheokee's j trucks all used the same doors - just the affore mentioned latch change. All the cab forward sheet metal swaps (WT vs NT fenders, but they will bolt up in place of each other) It does not always line up right away, but that was the mfg proccess, not design.
Not sure on the M715 what is the same....

You don't need to swap the entire door, just remove the power stuff and swap it in....much easier.

How about the other way....What wags can i use to switch from electric locks/windows to manual?

Anything with manual windows...
You just swap glass & regulators, way easier quicker than swapping an entire door.

Sorry to bring back an older post, but am I understanding vorrestly that the manual windos are a 'bolt-in' for my 87 GW? I want to eliminate the power accessories(just more to fail)and want to install manual windows.. I see that the door locks are just 'attached' to the lock rod,so thats an easy removal w/o replacing anything. Thanks

Swapping door latches is not a bolt on process.
The attaching bolt pattern on the early latch is different from the later type (although they look similar) I have done this converson to a tailgate in the past, I suspect it can be done to a door too but it might be easier for you to source the correct doors.
