Well I finally got to take the GW down to Hatteras for a week! It was a blast driving it 3hrs down there! We had a great week, perfect weather and company! The Waggy did excellent all week and really ate the beach up. I might have a transfer case issue(posted that ? in the tech forum) we'll see, I havent really messed with it. Anyway I got tons of comments and thumbs up. Only saw one other Wagoneer on the beach, saw a couple on the road. Back in the 70s/80s when I was a kid thats all you saw down here! Anyway just a couple pics----

Yeah, I saw a lot more of those rigs back in 1980s. I was only a kid back then.

That's as cool as seeing one in the woods. Nothing better then druising the beach in the summer with half doors on the waggy.

One of the coolest waggy's I have seen. I love the half door idea. Makes me wish I had the time off work this summer to take mine to OBX and tear up the sand.

Looks real sweet, especially the boobie grille and half doors.

Looks like a great trip. Wag looks good.
What size motor do you use for that thing on your racks? :D j/k I'm going to shape me a summer kayak too. ...one of these days.

What kind of rims are those? I think I have a set just like them and I'd like to find some center caps.

Hey thanks guys! The trip was awesome...GW made it dang near perfect! Half doors on the beach were even better than I thought! I practically grew up in Hatteras every weekend in the back of my dads '67 Wagoneer so i have really fond memories of both.... and your right, I really wish I had more pics of it! Snapped a bunch of mine and the kids. Surfing was not that great, got out a couple days. Fishing sounded really slow. I fish a lot at home in the Chesapeake Bay so I dont even mess with it when Im on vacation! Going back down in a couple weeks CANT WAIT!!

Wave the wheels were Ebay specials. They were new in the boxes but there was no brand name at all. Prob cheap Chinese knock-offs!

Love the 1/2 door look I think thats the 1st one I've seen like that!
does it have windows to keep the rain out?

Thanks! No windows, I have clear vinyl "windows" for the rear doors that velcro in place. Did those just for the kids if they were cold or getting a little wet. Really the only time you get wet is a really hard rain, and you stop and the wind blows it on you. Anytime you are moving it just kinda blows right by!
