I am considering a spring over conversion on my 87 gw and was wondering if any one out there had any info on either of these setups and how undrivable the truck would be in the short term with out it. I live a long way north and it can take time for things to get here.

Where to find this setup ( high steer ) and if all dana 44 setups are the same are the questions that I need guidance with.

seamus I live in alberta to and I have priced out a soa conversion and its going to run around 2500.00 can. after all said and done but if you still want to do a soa and go with the cross over check with north shore offroad they are out of vancouver, they have the steering arms but they are not cheap about 300.00 us.

You can get the entire setup for high steering for around $300 USD from www.partsmike.net (http://www.partsmike.net)

I just went to crossover steering and this is what it cost me.
Parts Mike Super arm $119
New hardware for one arm $24
Chevy hollow tierod $10
Machining Knuckle $50
Shortaining tierod to use as draglink $30
Total $233
Your cost may be higher if you need a flat top knuckle($50?) or you buy new draglink ends($30ea), I am using old ones for now.
BTW these are the ends I used ES453L(to the pitman) and ES2234R at the steering arm.

How did this affect the ride and feel of the steering. I don't want to screw thingsa up as far as ride quality goes.
