I just bought a new lift track and seal from BJ's for the tailgate window of my '87 GW. My question is do I use a sealer(3M weatherstrip adhesive, silicone or anything?) on the seal from the track to the glass? Or do I install it 'dry'? Thanks

not dry. Remove original seal (if present), and recommend using the new seals. If you don't have one, you can use RTV.

I bought the track AND seal kit from you guys(BTW Thank You for GREAT customer service!),so do I put the seal into the track dry and install the window dry? Or do I use some type of sealer or even a lubricant? Thanks again

When I did mine (from BJ's as well a couple years ago), I placed the foam strip on the window bottom and rubber-malleted the lifter channel on. I cannot recall if the foam strip was adhesive-backed. Either way, the channel went on easily with no lube but there's no reason a little soap solution would hurt.
If you use a mallet, make sure the other side of the window is cushioned - I used an old blanket.

ah, gotcha. Yep, install the seal over the glass (set the glass on a thick blanket), and use a rubber mallet to GENTLY tap the seal onto the glass.

:(Well, I just tried installing the seal and lift channel on the window. The channel wants to lift/slide off the seal and window:confused:. So what is the best silicone to use? Should I go to the local Home Depot and get a tube of 100% silicone (or what) and fill the channel then set window in and let sit for a week? Thanks

I just used silicone spray from the hardware store (or home Depot)
