Ok, My valves are rattling only under a heavy load. If I really get on the gas they will do it. No sound at all under idle and normal driving. Ok, I did the dollar bill test, no suckage.. smile.gif Now...this is the important part. I am almost 100% sure that it is that my timing is advanced a little. How much does the timing have to be advanced to have this to happen? Also, could the vacuum advance have anything to do with it. The reason I asked about the vacuum advanced is that I had to T off the vacuum line the other day to add vacuum back to my power valve. Since the vacuum drops real low when I really get on the gas I was just wondering about the V-advance.
****NOW I REALLY NEED SOMEONE TO SELL ME***the little piece of metal and the screw that holds the Dist adapter plate in place. Mine grew legs and walked away. So if the cap is bumped, would this cause my ralttling from pre-igniton? If so, how much would the cap have to move inorder to cause this type of symptom..

Thanks guys

Hmmmm I am wondering if I am thinking of the same part. Do you mean the clamp that holds the Dizzy in the Block, or is this something you have on the TFI setup? I would not have anything for the TFI setup.

well, I think we are talking about different things. The thing I am talking about is used with the stock set up and the TFI. On the side of the DIST. there is a little screw holding in a small piece of metal that the Cap will fit into. The Stock cap and the adapter plate for the TFI both have the little notch. I need the little piece that fits the notch.
This is not the two spring pieces on the side, but the one that stops the cap from rotating a little

It sounds like pinging from too much retard in the timing. It usually takes 6+degress of advance to result in pinging. It your throttle response sluggish? If so then it could just need a few degrees advance.
Just a thought......
