sending unit rebuild.

my gauge always reads empty and never moves. I haven't check the wires but I think they are connected to the temp gauge and that one works fine. anyway, i just read that replacement sending units are not as accurate and responsive as the O.E. part so my question is, can you rebuild the old one and does anyone know of any specs online preferably with illustrations.

Nope it cant be rebuilt. Check the wires first. You need to have a good ground. I would replce the ground wire and make sure it has a good clean conection to the frame. Also check the power wire for corrosion. I did all this and my gas gage works great.

where did your ground wire attach to the frame? I have the same problemo AFTER replacing the sending unit. Thanks.
