Well as feared my jeep needs more work than I wanted to give. A mechanic just told me it has a dead cylinder and he recommends a rebuild. Now I'd love to rebuild her but he wants like $1600.
Add it up
Price bought $2200
Needed things:
Rebuild $1600
Paint $500
Brakes,mis $300
Total $4400.00

Now you know......
J = Just
E = Empty
E = Every
P = Pocket
Just think if you shipped it to me....cost ya about $800.00.
You would save $3600.00. :D

i bought mine for $650.....i've already put in probably well over $3k (just of the top of my head, give or take a few hundered, this truck certainly has been nickle&dime'ing me).....
as of right now my transfer case may be shot (either clutch cones or chain......but i'm leaning towards cones)......
my water pump is heading south, NUMEROUS electrical gremlins that i've lived with since i got the truck, and probably will have to live with for a lot longer.....and i just lost my job to boot.....
..........
but make sure you get a second opinion on that "dead" cylinder, it could be caused by something as simple as a bad plug wire or spark plug, bad distributor rotor or cap, carbon fouling a spark plug, blocked intake passage, etc.....
so good luck with that, just anytime a mechanic gives you that kind of news, especially involving large $$$ repairs.....
unless you have very good reason to trust them, ALWAYS get a second opinion, and ask for a print-out of your compression test as well....

You guys keep track of how much you spend? I try to forget :D At the very least I can honestly tell the wife that I don't know how much I've spent on the Jeep smile.gif
If you like the jeep don't worry about how much you put into it. These things are definately not investments, more like money pits...
