I've been reading up on the 727 rebuild threads, and noticed Ristow used the TCI Truckmaster instead of the TCI Pro Super.

this one is getting a TCI Truckmaster kit. pretty much the same as the Pro-Super kit,but without the race type valve body mods, which are not needed in this app.
I'm looking to just do a stock rebuild, and get the truck back on the road. Is the pro super kit a good choice for that? I ask because jegs and summit have the pro super available to ship today, but the truckmaster is three weeks out. I'm trying to get the truck rolling this weekend.

Also a friend of mine had an extra TransGo TF8 shift kit he told me to put in there while I have it open. Is the TransGo kit compatible with the TCI rebuild kits?

This'll be the biggest project I've tackled in my brief shadetree mechanic career. Might be a couple dumb questions from me this weekend...

the TCI kit has the shift kit included.as stated, i believe the pro super kit has some extra street performance valve body springs over the truckmaster kit is all. otherwise same.

with the towing/rv shift kit it makes for a very nice transmission.

Thanks for the advice. I'll save the $30 and wait the three weeks for the Truckmaster.

Friend'll be glad to have his shift kit back for his 727.

To be continued...

Not to Hijack but I am going to be doing a 727 rebuild soon and I just wanted to say that Ristow's detailed post of the 727 rebuild has given me the push that I needed to pull the trigger on this one.

Thanks for the info on the rebuild kit also.

Ristow: I might be calling you soon...............

Ristow put a Truckmaster kit in mine and it is great! Nice firm shifts and no slippage whatsoever! Just be prepared to wait a bit for teh kit from summit.
