No, this episode will be "Pinks All Out" where tons of people show up and do their best and the best times move on and eventually get money given to them(or they bring it along not sure exactly) to bet with. The winner gets all of it in the end. I don't remember the total though.

Good and bad news.
Wednesday: Finally get the borrowed nitrous sprayer module in and tested. NOS sent me my third defective one in a row so one of the local guys saved my butt. After that I fought wiring issues all night and didn't make the test and tune session. Finally narrowed it down to a faulty RPM window switch and called it a night at 2 a.m.
Thursday: Woke up at 6:00 a.m. and finished some little odds and ends, packed up everything and was out the door by 11:00. Stopped at the speed shop for some nitrous. Met up with the convoy at noon and got into the pits at around 1:30. Did some mad scrambling getting everything set up and partied until 2:00 a.m. I got a call Friday morning that the Jeep made an appearance on the local TV station.
Friday: Woke up at 8:30 to the sweet sounds of race cars warming up on the pit roads. Sweet! Got called to tech at 10:00 and signed my life over to Pullin TV/Speed channel. I was number 117B. I turned the bottle on in the staging lanes and a few minutes later it blew a hole in the brand new line. Right in the middle of nowhere, not touching anything. Not too happy with NOS at this point. Anyhow, I decided to just make a tune-up pass on the motor and go from there. It went 13.43 @ 96.85 which isn't fast enough to make it into the show on Saturday. Got back to the pits and made a parts run for a new line, got it back in with 5 minutes to spare. On the second pass everything worked perfect. It went 1.65 60' time and ran 12.56 @ 104.22! It was running a little rich so I bumped the nitrous jets enough to hopefully run 12.0 and partied until 1:30 a.m.
Saturday: Wake and meet Men in Black and his buddy. Really nice guys to talk to. Go to the driver's meeting at 10:00 and then they started making passes. Since I was B-class, I was one of the first guys down the track. Apparently the engine really liked the tune-up because it launched HARD and lifted the front tires. The tires were still on their way up when the rear end gave out. Punched a couple small holes in the cover but didn't put much oil on the track. They just loaded me up and kept running so at least I didn't cause much of a delay. I've got a sweet picture of it on the way down with one tire still in the air and diff fluid squirting out the back. At least I've got a story and a picture. :) Haven't pulled it apart but it doesn't look good. Hung out the rest of the day and got to watch some sweet racing. One of the guys in our group made it to the all-out 32 and got to the top 8 before he got eliminated! Roger Jakey in a sweet '67 Camaro. Another local guy made it to the finals but lost in 3 races. the guy that was helping me tune my nitrous (Jimmer Kline) made the quick 8 in his slow car @ 8.4 I think. His fast car runs 7.3 but he wasn't ready to run it with the new engine.
Even though my junk broke down it was the most fun I've ever had at a race track. All good people, sweet parties, armdrop golfcart racing, and some sweet cars too. :) I'll add some pics later today after I get everything unloaded.

I had a perma-grin for the rest of the weekend after that pass. :) It had a bit left in it but at least it made one pass after all the trouble it gave me. The plan is to fix it and just leave the rest of it alone. If it'll consistently run low 12s and do wheelies I'll be the happiest guy at the track. The broken axle is a 44 with a truetrac carrier and 4.10 gears. I figured it'd be ok because the g-body guys use them and run low 10s. I guess that's the weak link between 4190 lbs and 650 ft-lbs of torque when it hooks.

Here's the picture I got from the photo guys at the track. It's on it's way down so it's doesn't look like much but everyone told me it had a few inches on both tires. I can tell it broke right off the hit because you can see two squirts of gear oil coming out the diff if you look hard enough. Expensive picture. :p

Converter is a Hughes 10" 3000 stall but I'm pretty sure it's higher than that on nitrous. Don't have a tach so I don't know. :p
Pistons are the Keith Black hypers. As long as it doesn't go lean they'll be fine. I've got two fueling systems, one for the carb and one for the nitrous, plus they each have a fuel pressure safety switch. I also have a wideband O2 that I watch every run. 12.56 was on a 100 shot and the highest I'm going to go is 150.

Yaa, I'd look for a D60. I bet that eliminates the breaking issues. And they are fairly cheap.

Found the cause of the rear end problem. Looks like the guy who set it up did a pretty poor job. Everything so far looks ok except the gear set. I'll pull everything apart for a more thorough check but it's looking like just new gears/bearings and it's back on the road. Here's the pics.

My experience, is that you'll pop the gear set again with that much load on a D-44. Simply were not designed, nor made to withstand that kind of torque and impact loading...:(
I'd be giving serious consideration to a larger ring gear (more like a Nodular 9" Ford, or larger if other... at least larger than the 8.75" of the 44...) with any ratio's lower than 3.73, for that kind of service environment and weight...;)
In any event... Good Luck...;)
