All,

I am a new owner of a 1976 Jeep Cherokee Chief. I bought this to replace my 1976 CJ-5 due to the fact with a wife and one child (maybe more soon) the CJ was not a great vehicle to go wheelie.

I am wanting to lift the Cherokee and am trying to find lift kits for it. So far I have only found 4" kits outside of the one 6" kit from BJs.

Does anyone have any other sources you could recommend? Also, I would appreciate any input you have on the size of lift to go with. I would like to be able to run 35" tires.

Thanks,
Donnie

You will need the 6" lift to run 35's. and the only other option you have for lifts is hellcreek, but i dont know for sure if they have a 6" kit for that year model.

And they do have a 6" kit for ya

you can also do a SOA (spring over axle) conversion and shackle flip the rear for 6-7" of lift, and it will also flex a bunch better then the 6" kits. the only drawback is you'll need to convert to a hi-steer arm on the passenger side at minimum, and that can be a little more costly.

SkyJacker suspension lifts are extremely nice. We had a 4 in lift on one of our J-10's running 33's. New owner slapped on a set of 35's and they fit extremely well.

I remember after we installed this, we gained nearly 5 1/2 inches in lift. Just something to think about.

All,

Thanks for the information. I now have some options.

Also, any opinions on a 1"-2" body lift?

If you can do without a bodylift, as in trimming the fenders, do it. A 1" isnt bad, 2" is iffy, 3" is not good.

6" + 35's = Perfect stance on a WT cherokee :)
