Ok, I put down a deposit tonight on a 79 J10 Honcho, going back with the rest tomorrow night.
The seller gave me the documentation he had on it, including the paperwork for its "2by4conversion" Part-Time Conversion from Doug Nash Equipment and Engineering.
Can anyone tell me about this? Apart from the fact that I'd assume it makes the QuadraTrac part time.

Yes the 2 by 4 conversion is a part time with 16% overdrive for the QT. I had one in my J10 for a while but didn't notice any difference in mileage so went back to full time.
Doug Nash kits were the first part-time conversion kits for the QT's. Now defunct...so MileMarker and I think one other company makes the kits. I know that the MM kits come in either standard gearing or 16% OD versions. I'm not aware that all or if even any of the DN kits were 16% OD kits?

This one is a 16% OD kit.
So, you'd put one of these in why? To increase MPG, and reduce wear on the front drivetrain?

Ed Jack.. The 16% OD kits will give you a worse crawl ratio in 4 wheel low.... "not good"at least for me..... ;) ds..
Thanks Don, I wasn't aware of that. All the ones I've seen (PT kits) were MileMarkers including the one I had and it was the non-OD kit.
