All it is, is a cable control for otherwise Vacume operated front axle lock.

I have one in my YJ. I love it. No more guessing if I'm really in 4WD or not. Also, you can leave the axle (4WD) engaged all the time and not worry about the vacuum switch going back to the 2WD position if the engine stalls out. Not to mention there is no vacuum diaphram to get clocked with water or mud.
