Venting but looking for opinions please- the 77' J-20 is more of a basket case than I first thought.
The VIN says it should have a 360 it's has a barley running 343 installed some where on the way - when I do get it to run 1st gear is OK but 2nd and 3rd sound more like a box of rocks - I've never reached 4th (surprised it held 3rd.....)
Both front side breaks bleed like a shot pig....
No idea yet on the transfer case health.

I bought her because I wanted another full sized pick up, that I could work on, not as a daily driver...... I've puttered with it for a year now, and am not much further along than day one when I brought it home on a tow chain.

Would you keep it, sell it outright, or parts it out then take the wright off for donating a junker to the recyclers. I really hate that option, I'd like to see someone bring it back to life.
I guess I'm just frustrated in not having a working truck - yet..... and don't have the disposable income to send it to a shop to get it healthy.

On my days of inspiration I think "It's just metal" why the He!! am I not doing SOMETHING productive with it.
So would you stick with it, parts it out, sell it out right - or just go have a beer and wait for the next day of inspiration.

sorry just had to say that.i think you should stick with it.i've owned my truck for 4 to 5 years and still have not drove it yet.
storie goes i gave my little brother a 70 super wag that needed a motor.he bought the truck for 900.00 for the motor that i had to get running took about an hour, and was going to scrap the truck:eek: .so i took it off his hands.and 3 weeks later his motor died.to this day the truck is a sore subject, even more so now, with me turning it into a crew cab:D and he let the 70 go for 100.00 with nice 31's 4'' rancho lift.
look up the thread on this fourm.
maybe that will give you inspreation:)
