I guess the subject says it all. When I accelerate there is a clunk like somethings loose. My first guess was the U-Joints! Am I right?
What else could it be?

does it clunk when only accelerating hard? could be loose chain in the transfer case. IF so, get it fixes ASAP. You don't want to have to buy a new t/c. they aren't cheap.

Well, 84 should have a NP229, and if I recall correctly it doesnt use the chain in 2wd. Only in awd/4wd. But I would still check it. What general area does the sound come from? And can you feel it thoruhg the truck?

could be the motor mounts or the tranny mount

You know what? It may be a loose mount, but it wasn't doing this a few weeks ago. BTW I can't get her to go back to 2 wheel drive yet. SO, I'm in 4 and if it only happens in 4 then that might be it too. I hope it's not the x-fer chain. I'm more busted than Buster Douglas right now.
On a good note: the junkyard bought 2-barrel I threw on is doing pretty good. I just gotta change teh electric choke which I found broken today with loose linkage. Now, If only I could take care of this crack and exhaust leak on the passenger side and the exhaust leak messin up my gray painted valvecover on the drivers side.
