A full 2 days after starting the lift on my '90 GW, I finally finished. We ended up having to cut every single bolt with either the sawzall or torch  and dropped the gas tank to reinforce the leaf mount that was partially rusted through.

The kit itself was good quality, springs were made in Canada, hydro shocks aren't bad and the brake line brackets were good. I didn't use the front brackets since my hoses were in poor shape and I need to replace them anyway. There is a lot of slack in them still so I'm not worried about it for the moment. The front leafs bolted right up with no problems, but the rears required some ingenuity to get bolted into the rear shackles (that were seized in place).

Overall, the lift was great quality for the price and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good entry level lift.

After (hooked to my '73 Starcraft to help break in the rears):

Once the bank account recovers, a set of 31" Treadwright ATs will fill the wheelwells. We also replaced the stock exhaust with a custom 2 1/2" catback into a ProSound muffler. Sounds awesome.

sweet!!! i just got my 4" from rusty's about 2 months ago, and i love it! it flexes great once you break in the springs, rides great, and looks the way it should have from the factory! once my 32's wear out, i'm gonna get me some 2" shackles and blocks and go to 33's... maybe my pics will show up. i'm the chunky white guy...

Nice!

It looks like it's supposed to...now.

I was really happy with my Rusty's kit. I'd heard a rumor that their springs were made overseas...?

I'll buy Canadian!

Thanks guys, I love it. It rides firm, but not stiff. I'm sure it will get better as it breaks in.

thechier86 - how well did the 32s fit when new? I had thought 31s would be the limit, but I like the way yours looks. I saved the overloads from my stock leaf packs, so if the rears sag, I can throw those back in to gain 1/2-3/4". I don't think they will though.

they are great! the tires only have 2500 miles on them, and i actually put them on before the lift! even stock they only rub on the leafs when i turn all the way, but you can adjust the stopper bolts on the back of the steering knuckles to stop that, or get different rims... these tires were actually quite a bit cheaper than the treadwrights i looked at too! i payed $520 for the entire set mounted, balanced, road hazard protection. they also had a promo going where if you buy a set of tires you get four free oil changes! i made out like a bandit! this was at best one tire, in nashville, tn.
btw, my username was sposta be thechief86, but i can't figure out how to change it:rolleyes: and i clicked before i noticed the mistake.:banghead:

What size tires do you currently have on her. Looks like you've got good clearance.

WOW!! Thats a nice looking rig!! VERY clean, love the lift. I have 6" Rustys and it rides great also, I DD mine at least 4 days a week, log about 100 miles a day and I swear its close to stock ride, just a hair stiffer--an improvement!!

I went rusty's on WILL E. You will fit 31 inch tires no problema.

Good flex on the trails. Yeah, it's the way they should have come from the factory.

Nice looking rig. It's a lot of work. I expect you had to get the gas tank out of the way...

All springs. $499 + ship IIRC. Shipping killed it at $181 though

Tires are 235/75/15s. They only had 2000 miles on them when I got the Jeep, so it's kind of hard to justify swapping them out just yet.

Yes, the gas tank had to drop. It wasn't too bad. The worst part was I ran the sawzall for close to a half hour just to cut that bolt from the outside, but we had to drop the tank to repair the pocket that was rusted. Would have taken 2 minutes with a cutoff wheel or torch if we had just dropped the tank to begin with :banghead:

I've had a Rusty's lift for about 7 years now:) . I guess I got an early type with ok rear springs, needed to slap on 2" blocks about 2 years later to pick up the rear so the Chero sits level. I am way due for new shocks though, anyone have any suggestions?
Ride has been great and real good on some trails, I run 32x12.50s on 15x10 rims (soon to be stock Jeep rally wheels 15x8:D ). Since I swaped in WT axles I rub up front while turning, but that will be taken care of soon.:D

That looks pretty good, the way it should!
I drove about a week on 235s after I lifted mine then got some 32x11.5x15s on the stock wheels. Made a big difference. The 88 my dad gave me has a 4" Rustys spring lift on it. It rides nice on the highway. 32s make a big difference after a 4" lift.
