Hi all,
I was cruising down the main drag in a backwater town this morning and lo and behold, what did I see?
http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z176/budojeepr/Misc/RockingRJeep.jpg
Just sitting there, lonely as could be.
What year is it? Can anybody get me in the ballpark? I'm scheming on how to get in touch with the owner. Just want to know if I should pursue it...
78 or older 'cuz of the boobie. i think people would be able to tell you for sure if they saw the tail-lights?

74-78 if I'm not mistaken. It sure does look lonely. Somebody adopt that poor thing and give it a good home.

X2 mines a 76 and I've got a BOOBIE GRILL. Would be easier to tell with a shot of the tail lights. Looks like it's in pretty nice shape.

X2 Again those tail lights are pre 80's so I too would say 74 to 78.

Just noticed that in your pic of the rear there is no gas cap. wonder how long that has been off with it out in the weather. You should snatch that rig up if you can bet you get it pretty cheap. chrome looks good and she looks to be straight with only some weather fading.

It's in great shape. The body's cherry for a vehicle so old. I don't think it's been sitting over a year. Weeds grew up around it, wheels tied down, Gulliver-style, by spider webs. Probably sitting only a matter of months. Thing is, that parking lot is for a defunct "Auto Aid" business.
Some things I noticed (did not notice the gas cap - too excited, I guess :D ):
Quadra-trac
Beautiful interior - bench seats
Nice under-dash A/C unit
Original wheels/hub capsI think I know who the owner is - a retired fire-fighter, a guy I knew back in the early '90s. I inquired at the local store and he's still alive and kickin'. I'm going to call him tonight or tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed...

If it's a '74-75 it would be particularly desirable in CA because it would be emissions exempt. Looks like Fairway Green to me, which is a '74 color.

Get the Vin# either off the door Jam or the fire wall drivers side high in the engine side.
Should tell us what she was when born.

Ooooooh.... let me know what your plans involve. I'd hate to see a clean rig pulled apart, but on the other hand... I could use the front axle out of that rig in a huge way!

Well, I haven't been able to contact the feller I thought owned the '74...
But I found another, a '72. Great shape, hasn't been run since 2000. PO put a Chev 327 and TH400 in it. The 327 is now a hoo-raw's nest of grass and acorns, but all the parts are there. Dunno why they parked it!
The body's in good shape, interior's nearly cherry (!!). Dash is in good shape. Has factory A/C. Roof rack, air deflector, winch bumper, trailer hitch, trailer brakes, dual fuel tanks. I'm probably going to make an offer tomorrow - it would be perfect for my body swap. I have phone pics, but have to hook up to the Mac at work to get at 'em.
Icing on the cake: it has a B.A.R. sticker in the doorjamb for the 327! w00t!
Anybody interested in a 327/TH400/Dana 20 combo? Front Dana 27? Rear Dana 44? Winch bumper? Front bench seat?

Good find, whats the plan? I liked the color on the green one. Is that air deflector on upside down?

I'm interested in the winch bumper, if it will fit W/T fenders. PM me if you get it.

I vote for not parting them out because we need as many pre 75 rigs in CA as we can get. Plus that white one might be a good tow candidate, with all that gear on there already.
the green one is sweet. I would sure like one of those. The earlier wags are really classy looking inside and out.
good luck

The '72's drivetrain is done for anyway...but I agree, I'd never part out the green one. It's just too beautiful.
My plan would be to use the best of the '72 body, interior, accessories (and BAR sticker) with my diesel Wag's drive train and whatever body and interior parts are superior to the '72's.
Parts parts parts galore from that swap. Things like the rhino grille from the '81...

Hey now that's cool, really it's more like parting out an 81 and upgrading the 72! I don't understand though - If there's no inspection at all on the 72 then why do you need the BAR sticker? Can't you switch to diesel at your leisure regardless of regs because it's exempt?
I hope you can get the green one too.

Definately not a 1975 Wagoneer custom.
Shoulder belts or lap belts?

Definately not a 1975 Wagoneer custom. When did 1975 come up?
Shoulder belts or lap belts? I think it's just lap belts. Good point. I'm not comfortable wearing a steering wheel-shaped upper plate. :D Shoulder belts are a must IMO.
The VIN decodes to:
Year: 1972
Jeep Corporation
Toledo/Hydramatic/LHD
Wagoneer/109 in. Wheelbase
4 Door Wagon
Custom Wagon/5400 GVW
V8-360 Regular
The 360 is long gone, replaced by an old Chev (not AMC) 327 and TH400.

A '72 will have a front Dana 30, just FYI.
That's a nice looking Wagon too. Nothing wrong with the 327, if it's a clean installation.

Nice spot Brad!
I usually hate green in any early vehicle but I would drive that beauty to hell with me
I hope it has the 401
Definetly a 74-78
Edit : should have read the 2nd page before I posted. The White one looks like a great candidate as well. I'd really like a Chevy 327/TH400/Dana20,but too bad we're 1300 miles apart.
Did anyone get the green '74?
