like I said, "ARG!!!! RUST!!!". Now, on to the point of this post:
I've got some nice rust going on right above the top of the windshield seal. Looks like it goes underneath it, as well. Suggestions? Or am I doomed to a convertable? Thank!!

Pretty sure BluduckFSJ had the same problem and had it repaired/replaced. Sounds pricey though.

yeah, that's my worry. Regardless of if I have it repaired/replaced or chop it, cage it and soft top it, its going to be expensive -- $ I don't have...

You can clean that up...it'll be a slight pita...remove windshield...and seal...great tiem to get a new seal for it...clean that rust up and refinish...your good as new..
Just be really careful taking that windshield out...

Aaron, this is my worry tho': in cleaning the rust, I'm afraid I'll find that the upper portion where the seal goes will be rotted out. Altho' I guess I don't know until I try!

You can always rebuild the upper portion with fiberglass. So grind as much as you can out without cutting the thing in half. Use naval jelly on the rest to "melt" off the rust. Clean it up and 'glass over. It gives you some flexibility. Just make sure you get it sealed. Short of installing new parts, that is my best guess. I did something like that on a Scout and it worked well.
