I have a 1989 Grand W. and I know all my door switches are shot but I can still turn on the lights with the dash switch. I can't for the life of me get the lights on the over head console to work. Any help would be great.

two things:
1. Check the switches in the doorjam, I believe they are standard and easily replaced.
2. A voltmeter is your friend. Figure out where the voltage isn't getting to the overhead lights.

re the door switches , unless they are broken, cleaning them up with a brass wire brush does wonders.this is a fsj thing, all 5 of my wags have done this. the wires from the dash to the rear run under the carpet along the drvrs side. remove drivers seat belt reel and the seat belt , remove the sill. peel up the carpet, the insulation under it is prolly soaked. look at the wires branching off the main ribbon and running into the B pillar. a couple have connectors color is either black or brown. in the water around the connector, you'll prolly see green scum. thats what happens. the connector gets wet and electralysis eats up the brass. any way just splice in a few inches of good wire and then start tracking down the water leaks. door seals. clogged cowl drains, wind shield gasket. or move to the mojave desert :D

Thanks, This was my old mans Jeep he told me about cleaning up the switches. I had fixed the roted floor right in that area last month. I'll go back and check the wires.
