I was sitting in my Cherokee and my gardener passed behind the Cherokee I saw one inch of his ball cap, he is average Filipino height. That was a scary moment.

I have been thinking of removing the tailgate, its heavy and I can just about reach the tailgate handle to open it. (The back side of big tires)

I was thinking of making a new wall that would be behind the back seat. More or less like in the pickups.

I do not want to cut the roof better to have it on in the rainy season.

In the open space created (open to air) I could have my jerry cans of gasoline and other stuff. No need for a swing out carrier. Much better visibility to the rear.

Any bright ideas, or pix?

Someone did something similar. Took the tailgate window mechanism and moved it up behind the rear seat.

Took the tailgate window mechanism and moved it up behind the rear seat.

I do not think that will work for me as the wheel wells makes the space too narrow. I want to keep it vertical so I get some floor space. Horizontally sliding window would work.

Anyhow my tailgate window is Plexiglas and with only one slide on one side, it has it's own mind and pops out due to the tension of the in setup and usually pokes one in the stomach.:D

I found this picture in my 2007 folder, looks like its done for same reason as I want to do it, separate the gasoline from cabin with a internal wall.

Does anybody know any more info of this Jeep in the picture?
