Im about to put rusty's 4" on and was wondering since Im already there, should I put a shim in or not. The back will actually be closer to 6" because I'll probably keep the 2" block thats already there. If I go with shims, should it be maybe 2 degrees in front(4" of lift) and maybe 4 degrees in the rear(6" of lift)? Any thoughts would be great. Dennis

For the back with 4" springs and 2" blocks i would definately use the shims. For the back you need to be carefull not to mess up the steering geometry. I dont think anybody here uses fronnt shims with just a 4" lift. Or a 6" even odd enough.

If you already have the shims, might as well put them in. It can't hurt to have a better pinion/driveline angle.
If you don't have shims, I'd say, don't sweat it and just install your kit as it. I have a 3.5" RC kit on my J10, no shims in the front and I've havn't yet had a problem with U-Joint failure in the front driveshaft.
The rears got wasted, but that was because I let my little brother drive and he wheelied it up the top of a river bank. The truck came down hard on the rear shaft, scattering the joints.
I forgave him, though, cuz he's my only bro.
I'll let him drive more after I install a 'cage LOL!
