Actually I have it just sanded and was wondering what to clean the surface with before laying down the olive drab military paint. Gemoxb no need to apologize I actually find your comments fun to read and quit full of info. I wasn't going to primer since I was using the ultra flat olive drab military paint. Do you think I really need to?

IF YOU WOULD HAVE ANY BARE METAL.... ...YOU WOULD PRIMER IT...AND BEFORE YOU WOULD DO ANY SANDING,YOU WOULD WIPE IT DOWN WITH WAX AND GREASE REMOVER...YOU CAN WIPE IT DOWN WITH THAT IF YOU WANT TO...I MYSELF DON'T LIKE USING IT FOR A FINAL WIPE DOWN. ...I KNOW THAT SOME PEOPLE USE IT FOR THAT...YOU CAN WIPE IT DOWN WITH REDUCER ALSO,BUT NOT THINNER... smile.gif

A light rubdown with pure alcohol (not rubbing alcohol, it leaves a film) is what many pros use followed quickly by a dry tack cloth. Make sure you wet the rag and do not pour the alcohol directly on the primer as it will yield the results that GEMOBX mentioned. Do not rub hard if at all. Just gently wipe. Professional grade thinner will also work well. I would advise against the water and blowgun as the blowgun can inject particles into the primed surface and the water will not fully dissipate because the primer will absorb it a little bit. My father ran a body shop for a few years and the above techniques are the ones he taught me. They yield positive results every time. If you're going for a shiny finish (which I know you're not at this time), rub the last coat of paint down with a cloth diaper (the old fashioned kind). Also, always prime bare metal as it will rust through if you don't.
 In order to paint 10000 cars, you would have to paint one full car a day every working day for 39.22 years. But, given the fact that one car, done at a professional shop, properly prepped, from bumper to bumber takes one person a minimum of 3 days (if he's real good), then it would take one person 117.66 years to do. The years is not a 365 day year but a 255 day year which accounts for weekends (extend the number by 5 days a year for holidays).
I know GEMOBX ;) , you just threw out a huge number to help prove that you have painted a few cars. But, I like to have fun with numbers and I really don't doubt your experience with painting cars but your method is the first I've ever heard of to be done that way. I've always known every painting environment to be as free from moisture as possible. Putting water on primer is news to me.

If he had 6 rocks of the following weights he could sell sacks from 1 to 50. A seventh rock of 64 lbs could expand that to 127 lbs.
1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32

PhilSine,
You forgot that if a 50 lb rock breaks into 7 pieces the total weight must still be 50lbs. Your total weight is 63lbs smile.gif

you said that he could sell 1-50 pounds. With this little bit of info all that we can conclude is that one of the rocks is 1 pound, the 50 pounds is a combonation of the 1pound piece and all of the others. This not too well thought-through riddle dosen't say what increments in that 1-50. it could be: 1,2,3,4,5,6, and 29lbs or it could be 1,3,5,7,9,11,14 or about 20 other combos. T ;) hat having been said jhatcher is correct.

wax and grease remover is good before the initial coat of primer...it is also good to wipe down with if your hands have come in contact with the primer before painting.....but, if you sanded properly, and you didn't touch the primer with your hands, you should do as GEMOBX suggested. Use water, and a lint-free cloth to wipe it down. Then take your time, and use compressed air to blow off/dry it. Then shoot er' with paint.

I was basing my answer on strict binary and forgot about the 50 lb cap. the last rock of 32 lbs could also have been 2 rocks, one of 9 lbs, the other of 10. That falls under the 50 lb cap and satisfies the number.
