I've seen this discussed before, but can't remember when.

When I start my truck, it sounds like someone is holding the key in the start position for awhile. The truck starts fine, but it seems like the starter wants to continue turning for a few seconds.

I have even let go of the key intentionally not wanting to start the truck and you can hear the starter continue until the truck starts...

If I remember correctly, it was something really simple to fix... Starter solinoid?? Relay?? Incorrect ground wire??

If I had a memory, I'd be dangerous!!!

Thanks again people!!

Hey, that happen to mine the other day, but mine would not shut off. Man I was feaking out because I just new all my neighbors were saying "What in the world has Mike bought now?". I pulled the center wire off the destributor cap to try to get it to shut off, but that only caused sparks to go everywhere. Finally I jump in the back of the Cherokee and got a wrench out of my tool box and took off one of the battery cables (which were smoking). It took about 5 minutes before I finally got in disconected.
So I took off my starter and took it to the auto parts store to get it tested. I was dead. I bought a remanufactured one for $30 w/exchange and it works good now, but it makes a aweful screach when I turn it over, just like the old one. I hope my flywheel isn`t the problem.
I`m not a pro, but I would say go get the starter tested it doesn`t cost anything at most auto stores. At least you don`t feel alone now. http://www.cs.colostate.edu/~zeimet/ubb/smile.gif Good luck, Mike
