The right rear wheel on the j4000 will only spin backward. I took off the drum and it looks like one of the pads is sticking. Is there somthing that just needs adjusting, or am i looking at replacing parts. Thanks

Two possibilities. First, you may have a wheel cylinder hanging up, not collapsing as it should. Second the brake adjustment is probably way too tight. It probably spins backwards because the shoes flex together to catch another cog so that the self adjuster will tighten. Going backwards w/ it and stepping on the brake probably makes the situation even worse as this is how it tightens itself up. When in doubt rebuild the brake assy. New shoes, turn the drum and put a new wheel cylinder in. The wheel cylinders are cheap. J20

If the parking brake was stuck on..or paritally on, could that cause it? i think it is most likely the wheel cylinder, but i am checking the possibilities before i go replacing a bunch of parts.thanks

MIne did something like that, the parking brake cable was realy rusted inside the housing. Easy to check.
