I am getting a bad vibration from my jeep, it comes in about 35 and is not to bad, goes away around 40, then comes back about 50 and is really bad, then goes away about 56. The u-joints are good, and all the mounts are good, so what else could it be? The vibration at 50 is a really fast vibration, itll actually make your feet numb at sustained driving.
Thanks in advance.

maynard,
I had the same problem. I had people telling me to rebalance my tires etc. It turned out it was my driveshaft. I took it out, had it balanced and put it back in. End of my vibration. My vibraion was faster as my speed increased as well. Everyone on the board had wondered how a driveshaft could just "become" unbalanced. I am no mechanic < I don't know why or how, all I know is that my problem was the driveshaft.

All I can say is to make SURE it's not the driveshaft/u-joints, because I just dropped mine! I'm going to fashion a 'loop' to catch the front of my rear driveshaft in the event that ever happens again! Check those u-joints in neutral with the parking brake off. Chock those wheels!

Did the vibration start after you installed your lift? If so, you may have the wedges in backwards which points the differential yokes too far down---bad angles = bad vibration. Otherwise, you probably threw a balance weight off of your drive shaft or got the thing installed out of sequence when the new u-joints when in. If it's not the lift kit, the easiest thing to do is what was said before, take the drive shaft to a show and let them balance it. CR

thanks for the help guys, I am really thinking it is the driveshaft, just like ryan said. I had some slop in the slip joint, so I greased it up and the bad vibes arent quite as bad. and I just put it on jackstands and ran it up to 50 and my dad said the driveshaft is going up and down a little bit.
I thought maybe it was that I didnt get it back in the same way it came out after replacing the u-joints, so I tried different ways and didnt help any.
And I am pretty sure it is not the lift since it has been on for nearly 7 years now. Once payday rolls around Ill take it to Six States and get the shaft balanced. Thanks again for all the help.
