Got a cherokee with a manual rear window. Rear window wont go up... or stay up when "hand"ually forced. Pulled the inside panel off to get a look. Looks like the larger gear that is pushed by the gear on the window crank is stripped. Didnt think to look if it was pressed on or could be removed.

What are my options? Anyone sell these reman or used? Or am i gonna have to buy a tailgate somewhere and get the hardware out?

Yeah, FSJ manual tailgate window gears are weak for sure but the aftermarket replcement ones from Crown are made of oatmeal(at best maybe melted down carbs). Trick with the windows is the tracks and related parts need to be in top shaped, lubed etc. Never try to muscle a binding window up with the playschool window crank. The Crown replacement units will actually work quite awhile if you don't expect them to overpower track/alignment issues.

Can you remove the gear and flip it around, they're usually only stripped on one side.
