Been there, done that lol.
It really sucks doing that, when I did mine it took right around 2 hours per side!
Then only a few months later I had to replace my callipers and do it all over again
But its worth the temporary sore arms and black boogers to run 15'' wheels in my opinion. Its nice being able to air down to single digets without beadlocks

I got my Eaton wheels with 3.5 inch backspacing. Less grinding.
The 15" 8 lug Conversion wheels may be purchased with or without beadlocks. 15" 8 lug wheels will require grinding on the calipers or spacers to clear

It sure looks like they got thin. I think I would measure the thickness there. The caliper Lars posted looks fine. But the top one... Just double check that thickness.

Yeah that pic does meake 'em look thin. The casting on these calipers thins out as it nears the center casting hole but there's plenty left.
thanks for the input though

That first pict looks awful thin in the center.
Not to ask a dumb question but why did you just not go with bigger rims?
I am trying to find 8 lugs rims for my D44/D60 from a 75 j truck. I was going to go with 16.5 or 17 rims so I didn't have to grind. Just seems eaiser and safer that way.

What does rim size have to do with air pressure?

Typically, the only reason to go with 15"s instead of 16"s+ is because that is what was cheap, or what a person already had laying around.
It is true, that the more sidewall you have, the better (off road, not on...), and obivously the smaller rim you have, the more sidewall you get. However, once you are above a 33" or so tire, jumping up to a 16" rim is no big deal. After all, jumping up to a 16" rim only costs you .5" of sidewall...
In any mod that you do, it is important to balance form, function, and safety... Not necessarily always in that order.

Well I guess I was mainly comparing it to 16.5s...... lol. I did mine just so I have more wheel options. Its nice to be able to run just about anything. I have a tendency to switch stuff up a lot. And unless you are buying tires and wheels new it seems like most everything you can find are 15s. (at least for me lol)
Just my opinion..... take it for what its worth.....

Yeah in a perfect world 16 or 17s would be fine but i have a set of practically new 37" MTXRS that are 15". And at 300 a pop ($300x5=$1500) i figured i would just use these till there used up then move up to the bigger wheel.;)

I hear ya... You can find 15" stuff EVERYWHERE...
I with with the 16.5"s because I was only out $350 for a set of double beadlocks (with PVC inserts), and I intended on buying new tires anyway. These days though, anround me at least, it is getting pretty easy to find used 16.5" tires since more an more people are running the HMMWV wheels.
