Ive had my j10 for over a year and never let me down. until today.

lost transmission engagement on the highway. I heard a big bang then
I popped it in neutral and coasted to the side. with only 400 miles on
my newly rebuild transmission I was P!SSED. I looked underneath,
no fluid, no huge holes in anything. transmission fluid was good.

looked underneath one more time before the "call of shame" to the wife
and saw my TC linkage dangling there. after 5 minutes braving the
kamikaze 18-wheelers zooming by and burning my arm on the exhaust
I was on the road again.

I chuckled as I zoomed up to highway speeds. I felt I had passed
my first official FSJ hazing ritual.

Lol, you haven't done anything, till you drove down the road with a windshield washer fluid bottle full of gasoline out the drivers side window, with a line to the carb. Fuel pump crapped out on me at 2 in the morning, and I wasn't about to stay there all night. That was before there were cell phones and such. Drove it to the next exit, that just happened to have a NAPA. Crashed out till they opened, went in and bought one, and 20 minutes later was on the road again.

BTW, I feel your pain, on the hot exhaust. I have a permenant silver dollar sized scar on the inside of my forearm, from repairing a clutch linkage in a similar situation.

Welcome to the club. We really need a name for it.

How about a piece of speaker wire for a throttle:thumbsup:

Cruising along @2AM in the middle of nowhere...
The gas pedal metal rod broke and the pedal just fell on the floor.

Yanked off some speaker wire, and tied it to the throttle cable.
Drove it that way for 4 hours until I got home.

Come on, you can tell us. You never got rid of the wire, did you? You're probably using it to this day as a hillbilly cruise control:lol:

Clearly my dad was right: nothing good can happen at two in the morning.

Sure it can, but not with an FSJ.

Just watch your head on the meat hook of death. :hide:

Unless her name is Destiny....or so I've heard.....:o

Vice grips and bailing wire have gotten me through more than a few break-downs out in the middle of nowhere....except for that time I walked 13 miles home one night(morning).....that sucked.

So it's not just me that gets the back of my head caught on that thing every time is it?

One of the geniuses that owned the wench before me ground off the meat hook with an angle grinder. Now it is a head slicer extraordinaire, I've had knife blades take more effort to cut me. Good thing your tranny problem was a quick fix.
