it is true i think that the idle mixture adgustment for a rochester 2G, as sets on my 350, is about 1 1/4 turns out. so why is it mine will not run at that setting? it has to have both screws turned out 5 or 6 turns,(really rich),to run good. what gives??

Don't know but may be the idle is set to low. Just a guess.

Could be a chock adjustment to.

Well, sounds like it is either an air leak at idle, or the fuel passage for the idle circuit has some dirt in it.

I'ld check the PCV valve, vac lines etc. first, then check the carb. another few turns the screws will probaly be out of the carb altogether!

Shoot, on my GW, I had to reclean the carb about 3 weeks after I rebuilt it because a bit of dirt got lodged in the idle circuit. I didn't get the stuff at the bottom of the Motorcraft's well thoroughly and didn't change the fuel filter immediately. Live and learn. Well I hope I learn.
