Has anybody done or seen the wood trim (not the panels) done in real wood?

I'd thought about doing it in a thin wood veneer, but I've never seen it.

I think this would look really cool. I have day dreamed about it. I think you would need to steam a thin veneer to get the body lines into it, or I guess you could glue it straight to the body panels and force the curves.
I had decided that if I got brave, I would try it with the thin strip as on the 70's rigs instead of the wide stuff on the GW's.
i think bamboo would look cool with the right body color for a beach wagon

Having owned wooden boats I would recommend against it; I can't imagine spending two or three weekends a year varnishing my Jeep.

Yes but you could drink Scotch and wear that funny hat boaters wear.....

Epoxy, then clear coat. No need for varnish.
