Looking for a Quiet muffler for my J20.
Listened to a few clips, but they give me more tone that volume.

I don't want to strangle the engine, but I want to stand by the truck running and talk normally.

I have a dual 2.5" cat to dual 2.5" to 3" Edlebrock SDT on the 360 in my Scrambler, and it sounds tough, but way to loud for my taste covered, drive thrus suck.

I just put a pair of "used" 40" thrush (Cherry Bomb) glass packs and cant believe how quiet it is. Gives it a very low moan.

I put on Dynomax Super Turbo mufflers on mine. They make a bunch of different ones in that series but I used the "hemi" 17749's because they're the quietest ones. I've got two of them on mine and they flow plenty and are stock quiet even on my engine.

Check some muffler shops for take-offs. I got a 3" OEM stainless off someones new diesel for about twenty bucks. Hard to say how it flows compared to the growly-boy stuff, but it's almost Lexus quiet.

Along these lines another J-truck owner said he used a large round 2 ton bigblock truck muffler on his since he had room under the bed, also I remember there being a big quiet super turbo for motohome's that may be what you're after. As for me I have a flowmaster bigblock 40 series I think 3" in dual 2.25" tails, resonated in the cab when it dumped at the rear axle, put on dual tails from a 80's-90's GM truck to exit in the stock location, everyone else may hear it, but pretty quiet in the cab now. My other J20 plow truck by the way I have a stainless 2.25" take-off from a newer model mustang that had flowmasters put on, pretty quiet, but makes a nice sound when you rap it off, used an early 90's F-series tail pipe on this one.

YES! They sound great, I got a pair for my '64 TBird. Don't have them installed so I can't take a clip, but I love the way they sound on other cars. Not too loud, but still deep and baffled. There are some pretty good sound clips of them on YouTube.

Magnaflows are pretty mellow too.
