Hey folks need a speedy answer, gotta head to the wreckers pretty quick...

Are there differences between exhaust manifolds (amc 360) either the manifolds themselves, or the studs for the exhaust? Just trying to figure out what I can liberate manifolds from when I get to the wreckers smile.gif

Nope! they are all the same. ;)

The manifolds changed some time in 79, the early manifolds can be used on late model motors but not the other way around, without some drilling to enlarge the holes. Also there was a difference in the manifolds on the left side of the 80 up rigs for driveshaft clearence.

I know the Y-pipe changed due to the driveshaft switching sides, but I thought the manifolds on my '88 and my '78 looked pretty much the same. I'll have to take a closer look.

As for the differences in size on the outer bolts, the manifold holes are oversize to begin with, so there may not be any need to bore them oversize to fit the 3/8" outer bolts if they're from a truck with 5/16" outer bolts.

I found out the outlet moved a little on the left when I went to put a 78 y pipe on my 65 with the 80 motor and manifolds, ended up using a 78 left side manifold.

That's good to know; little things like that crept in over the years.
