Hey folks, can anyone tell me if stalling and hard hot starts are symps of a defective p-u coil? I've replaced coil, ign. module(twice),wires, checked f.pump.She'll stall at random and will re-start after 15-20 min. I'm also running a Holley Pro-jection with Holley elec. fuel pump. Thanks for any epiphanys and/or enlightenment.

Sounds liek the magnetic pickup inside the distributer. I had this samme problem, I just replaced the whole distributer. Cost me 45 bucks and took a little under a hour to put in. Fixed my problem. When the magnetic pickup gets hot, it will stop working. After 15-20 mins it cools and it starts just fine, like nothing was wrong. You can just replace the pickup, it cost like 20 bucks or something I think.

Stuka,I swapped out the p-u coil this morning, took her for a short drive and let her run for about an hour afterward with no stumbles or stalls. Thanks a bunch for the heads-up on the scene.Dyl.

I've found that rather than wood,it's best to knock on woodgrain.........

well, since you already fixed it, i guess this is a little late. but, did you check for spark while it was in the no-start condition?

Yeah Spruce,I was fortunate enough to have a greenhorn handy who was more than happy to hold coil wire while I,"gave er' a spin",and according to him,"I coulda lit up Cleveland".So I think the answer is yes.

And again Stuka, thanks for the help.dyl.
