When will it end? Chero sputters and is weak.

This is what happens when you sell your FSJ. Buddies will come to you and say hey I bought soso's 79 Chero. It's been parked with a brocken Quadra trac chain since this summer.
OK we got my friend's 79 Chero all done last night. We fire it up and of course the valve covers leak and the accelarator pump drips like crazy. We silicone the covers and retighten the Accell pump. We take it around the block and it back fires when you step on the gas and it seems alittle flat powerwise.
this thing was parked since I think August. The 360 has a 1 year old holley 4bbl 1850 (that hasnt runn since August)? you know the generic standard 600cfm.
FYI he still needs tune up. and we have to replace the leaking vacuum brake booster.
BUT she is ALIVE...
It goes varroom POP! varroom POP!
Any ideas were to start.

id start by huntin down the vacuum leaks.they aint helpin that backfire( too lean)

I'ld suspect the timing too, but..I guess elimnating the vac leaks first makes sense.

IMHO a Holley 4150/60 should be rebuilt if it sat that long. That's what I do. I mean don't go nuts rebuild, just change the metering block gaskets, blow everything out (down if you follow JeepBobs advice) and put it together. In this case, a new accel pump diaphram and power valve may also be in order.
