well i went out and did some wheeling this weekend and twisted off my front driveshaft on my j20, the question is....where can i find a new one, i am wondering if a quadratrac front shaft will work. i am leaning towards no because i believe the have no c.v which mine does.

if anyone knows of any other kind of vehicle that could work. even if i had to put the c.v onto the new driveshaft. i would be interested to know

The QT shafts did and do use a CV(Cardan) shaft. Not sure exactly how to spell that without looking it up. I am sure someone here has a doner rig that may have what you need.

Actually, I would seriously consider going to a stronger drive shaft than that on the Quadra-trac equipped trucks. I had a '75 J-10 with 4" lift kit and Quadra-trac. I broke three shafts that had been lengthened and reinforced with thicker tubing. The major drawback with this transfer case setup, is that you are severely limited in the diameter of tubing you can use because it is very close to the passenger side of the TH-400 transmission case. If you do not have the Quadra-trac, you may have more options.

i,too, have broken many of the little stick front driveshafts.no less than 4 of them. i have been running a 2 inch diameter and the torque of my 258 in low range has not been able to twist that one yet, even with 38s.

the stock shaft on my 85 GW was that, maybe you could find on o them and shorten it if needed. mine was missing when i got my GW,so i shortened one that came frome a 97 wrangler. a freind worked at a jeep dealer, and they were gonna throw it away! worked out well for me...
