Greetings Jeepsters, Have a 1987 Grand Wagoneer and the tranny has gone out. tf 727. First lost reverse, then lost everything with a quickness. Getting ready to drop it and any words of advice or detailed mechanical drawings would be nice. Also any info on vendors selling master rebuild kits. Located in Fort Wayne Indiana. So far remanufactored seems to be out, rebuilt is the way to go. Have re-built everything else, engine, carb, so why not this. Also have heard mention of shift packages so any details on these would greatly be appreciated. Thank You

I recommend TCI rebuild kit and a shift kit to give you that nice firm shift

Pioneer makes a decent master kit which O'Riley's can get. You may want to check out a transmission parts store too, if you have any there. Try to get your hands on an ATSG manual for the 727 they're the best. In my experience the 727 is an easy transmission to rebuild, just check your clearances and make sure everything is clean. Especially the valve body.
