He's running a chevy 350, so the NV4500 is a direct bolt up for him.

I'm pretty sure either AA or Novak would have an adapter to put the NV4500 behind an AMC motor. Don't really know anything more than that though. Sorry.

There's a site where they have a kit for AMC hookup. I brought this up a while back and FSJeeper had some issues with the tranny's durability on a couple of points. Might do a search for that thread. I opted to use a 203/205 doubler with a Ford NP435 and then adjust my ring and pinion for highway. I have a ways to go yet, but picking up the pace. The set up I am putting together will cost less by the time I'm done and give me more gears to turn my 40" Ground Hawgs.

The NV4500 will put your front drive shaft aft about 4-6", you will want a post '97 model (which didn't have as nice a 1st gear) because they had problems with the earlier ones. It'll run you at least $2,500. More guys are running them, but how hard they wheel I don't know.

I have been accumulating parts for this swap for a while. The simplest way to do this swap is to get a dodge NV4500 and Dodge NP241 transfer case with drivers side drop. The Dodge NV4500 can be mounted to an AMC 150 or 176 bellhousing, but you need a 1" thick adapter that you can either make or buy from Advanced adapters. The adapter goes between the bellhousing and the tranny. You will want to get a fixed yoke kit for the NP241 since dodge used slip yokes on theirs. I think the fixed yoke kit is only available for the NP241 not the NP241HD. You will need new front and rear driveshafts.

The setup I am working on is a little more complicated. I plan on using a chevy NV4500 equiped with a 32 spline output and a Dodge 4X4 tailhousing. I scored an Advanced adapters bellhousing on ebay to accomadate the front mounting. This set up will result in output shaft stickout of around 2". I am making an adapter that is a little less than 2" thick that will mate a Ford NP205 transfer case with a GM 32 spline input to the NV4500. Ford and dodge indexed their New Venture ransfer cases the same way and as I have mocked it up, it has a nice fit. The ford NP205 could be mounted directly to a chevy tailhousing, except that the indexing is wrong and you would have to notch the tailhousing flange to clear the front shift rails on a 205. I have also given some serious thought to saving up for a Klune to act as the adapter. In this appication it only adds 6" of length to the drive train, is already notched for the shift rails and only adds 40 lbs.

With the dodge version u can pretty much put any circular bolt pattern tcase behind the NV as long as the spline count matches. There's 23, 29 and 32 versions. You can put a D300 for passenger side drop.

BTW I almost did this swap but put in a T18 instead since my rig is mostly for off-road use (overdrive did not justify the price). But I have noticed that prices for the NV4500 are going down and the newer ones are much improved... go for it.

yah im just researching right now what I would need to do it and which tranny I would be looking for, I only recently read about the tranny and figured for my dual purpose that having overdrive and bull low in a fairly strong tranny would be much nicer than my weak T-5 or a 4spd(no overdrive) as I drive drive on the freeway fairly often

Another option is an overdrive unit. That way you could use a T-18 or another granny 4 speed and still have OD for the freeway.
