I was watching a video of an Armed Forces tribute to the Jeep called something like Jeep Biography, where the Jeep is in 1st Person narrating the video, anyway the army guys drove a jeep on to a duck canvass tarp, wrapped the tarp up and around the vehicle, and then a few sat on top of the tarp covered Jeep and the rest drug it to a river's edge and they all guided it across the river, unfolded the tarp and drove off...

Thanx Joe , I never had a cj or a military. but my father did and he had a manual for it The manual is great, it covered everything from unloading it from the shipping crate and took it to emergency field repairs. it worked great for me when working on my old 60 something Willys Overland do Brasil.
