Rear Window Adjustment - the ol 'crank' kind

Locking the rear crank keeps the window snug on my 66 wagoneer. But over the last few years, the window is help completely up when I lock the crank. (there seems to be only one position in the rotation that the lock 'grabs' in).

Is there a way to fine tune the mechansim inside so the window is ends up slightly higher (we're talking probably 3/8" of window travel).

I'm getting faint smell of the exhaust, and I think it may be coming in from the small crack.
