I *may* be picking up a wag and I would be renting a U-haul trailer if so. Is there a specific one to ask for due to dimensions. It is a stock vehicle and I'd be pulling it with my Honcho as it's all I have.

I wouldn't tell them you are hauling a Wag, just tell them your picking up a Jeep. I remember a few years ago on here a member being denied a trailer when he told them it was a Wag.
I think they only have one car hauler.

I got the orange one with the fold down fender and it fit fine.

All I said was 87 Wagoneer, didn't specify which.
That hitch is low to the ground, you're really going to need a big drop hitch for the honcho!

i rented a tow dolly from them to pull my wagoneer home with my f150, but i told them it was a grand cherokee because of the weight, and i wasnt going to far, so it wasnt to bad. but they might not give you a trailer because they might rate your honcho as being not capable of pulling a wagoneer, i would call first and see if theyll rent you one, if not when you go up there to get one jus tell them that your pulling something else(something lighter of course) but only if your going a short distance

Check out the U-Haul website.
It spells it out rather well as to requirements and weight limits.

I was going to tell them I'm picking up an XJ wag. Technically it's still a wag.

Dave, as usual, you have a picture for everything. You're the MAN! I do have a 6" receiver drop hitch plus my new tires dropped my truck down an additional inch. Now only if I can get permission to bring another parts vehicle home......:hide:

I always "downsize" my load when renting u-haul for vehicles. I started this practice when I rented a tow dolly to pull a 83 cougar and they said thats a pretty big car. Great Googley MoogleyGreat Googley MoogleyGreat Googley Moogley?!? Obviously my and u-haul opinion of a "big car" varies greatly, I always say it is smaller when I rent now.

Find a local tool rental place. They are normally cheaper and they don't have so many restrictions on what you can tow or what you can tow with. I always use United Rentals. I don't know if they have one near you but I know they are a national company. http://www.ur.com/

just be careful I think a waggy+trailer is heavier than your truck. I have pulled a few with my F350 Crewcab. right after hookup check that the brakes are good.

Strangely enough, the load being heavier isn't much of an issue by todays standards. I just looked at a 1500 Quad Cab Dodge that I am thinking of buying and it has a 9000 tow rating while the truck weighs half that. A good balanced load and trailer brakes makes all the difference.

I rented one when I picked up my truck, but like everyone said don't tell them you are pulling a full size jeep. Just make sure that it does not have oversized tires. I had to go buy used tires that would fit between the fenders.

Yep just saying you are hauling a 90s jeep wagoneer. My adventure was trouble free. Make sure the trailer has good straps before you pull out. Test the trailer brakes once you have the wag loaded up, before getting on the highway.

I ran it to this problem last fall when I bought my 78 from Neveda and had to get it back to Ohio. Was trying to rent a dolly for u-haul and they told me that it would be unsafe to hall a wagoneer on their dolly since it weighed 4200 lbs by their book. They said the dolly was ratted for only 3800 lbs and would not be safe to be pulled by a trailblazer with a class 3 hitch.

the trailers can carry a heavier load and have a better breaking system and there are two size make sure you get the larger of the size in my pic above the Toyota is on the smaller of the two

A W/T Cherokee or N/T Cherokee or Wag will fit on a Uhaul trailer. I do have pictures but dunno where they are.
Oh yeah, 31's are kinda the limit IMO for those straps.

That J10 has 33" tires on it just let some air out and you'll be fine
