I have seen it done on lighter rigs before.. Sammies and CJ's only for the most part. It lets them flex without twisting the spring, makes your springs last longer and you dont need as much weight to make the springs compress when flexing. Not sure If I would do it on a heavy rig like ours.

There would be alot of forces appilled to that little joint. I wouldn't be so worried on SWB rigs but ours, I think I would shy away.

Yes, I've seen those before. The BC-Broncos guys designed them. A buddy of mine in MD is a dealer:

It can't possibly work effectively. Two pivot points attached to two fixed points. How is it supposed to pivot?

How is it supposed to pivot?Sure it would work...you are correct in that the pivots can't pivot....until the axle starts to move out of the straight up and straight down plane. In those cases (articulation as we like to call it here in Boise) your leaf springs would normally twist as the axle twists to make up for the fact that the point where the springs attach is no longer directly below the normal spring postiion. The pivots simply make it so that the twisting forces on the leafs is reduced....of course, it is still forced to twist some from the shackle and the spring hanger mounts, but it is no longer held at the axle....you can see in the picture that it is, in fact, working....the plate on the springpack is no longer parallel to plate on the axle...

I think its a good idea, but I don't like the whimpy U-bolts and the fact that my axle and tires are held on my 8 1in welds.
They have needle bearings or grease fitting?

I agree with Blt2crl, not a good idea on our heavy LWB FSJ's.
You can accomplish better results using orbit eyes in your springs with no ill effects on highway driving. When I get my FSJ suspension needs sorted out, I am having a set made for my FSJ.
