I have got the loudest click-click-clack-clack sound coming through the dash that I have ever heard. No noise a idle but under load at about 25mph she starts to sing to me. It has been there for a long while, but since I put the 2150 carb on there it seems to be even louder. What gives? Think it is the lifters? Can they be adjusted or are they hydralic types? I don't have a radio in the wag right now so I relize I will maybe get some extra noise through that gapping hole in the dash, but this seems a little loud. Any thoughts would be great. :D

Yep, they're hydraulic. If you had a collapsed lifter, you more than likely would be hearing it at idle as well. You might want to get some rubber tubing, or a pipe or something, about 1/2" inside diameter, and put it over the #7 and #8 pistons, over the valve cover, and see if you can hear anything. More than likely it's coming from there, if you're hearing it through the dash. Sounds to me like either piston slap or valves.

I will give that a try tomorrow PM. Can piston slap be caused by the carb being set too lean? It seems to have gotten worse since the new carb was put on. If I am looking at a valve job---am I looking at big $$$$ if I take it to a shop? If it is not one thing it is another smile.gif
Thanks-----Scott
