yea thats the second time that ones been posted.
Must been a bernie madoff client's GW. It was interesting looking at the others for sell on autotrader. appears we all have a sleeper, that is awaking with gas below 2.00 a gallon. At least this week! I filled up at 1.83 last week. It someone offers me 10,000.00 I would sell mine with 51k.

Who knows, there maybe a crazy Kook out there that would pay such a rediculous price.

I think that is about what it costs to get one from the guy out in CA at GrandWagoneer.com. I know that I have spent plenty of time on his website looking at details and such. Assuming it is a true frame-off restoration with selective upgrades, he probably charges about that much for one. I guess folks out there gots that kinda coin for a fly rig..

Norbet doesnt mess around on his builds. He builds the worlds upper class Grand Wagoneers. He does them all one way and believe me he has buyers for his work and is well renown for building Grand Wagoneers.

$90K!!!! I mean the guy may do an amazing job but I don't know how there could be $110K put into a restoration, unless he's charging himself $100/hr for labor.
It says only 2K miles but I wonder how many miles this one had on it before he started the restoration.

It WOULD be possible to make a wagoneer for which I would pay $90K (assuming of course that I HAD $90K to spend on a car) but that is not it... Heres how to get me to spend $90K on a waggy:
engine upgrades:
401 running multiport fuel injection with at least 400 horses
tranny could stay the same but would have to be rebuilt
t-case:
Something epic like a atlas but it would need to be solinoid controlled with the control wired to the stock switch
Axles:
60 front, 14b rear with cro-mo shafts, e-lockers in both... The works
Steering:
Hydro assist
Suspension:
4 link triangulated with coilovers carefully concealed to maintain a fairly stock looking appearence only with 6in or so of lift
Interior:
All stock and completely restored only add a GPS touch screen stereo, tastefully mounted CB and switches for the lockers right under or near the 4wd switch.
Other:
Exterior the same color as the one the thread is about (I always loved that blue)
Winch bumpers with winches on front AND back
Dual optima batteries
Carpet panels in the back replaced with custom built metal tool cabinets
Some sort of really nice fenders to cover the tires since the one ton hardware will be really wide
37in TSLs or similar
Hydroboast brakes
Yeah... One day
EDIT: Oh yeah... I STILL woul dnot pay 90K since I could do all that myself for a lot less (ok maybe not ALOT less.. LOL)

Just TWO Optima batts????
Heck, for that price, I'd want an entire aux generator. Maybe some nice big solar panels on the roof to charge my inverter.

i would never go above 20k. That is one thing great about the waggies there a blast from the past that we can all afford. There cheep enough that you don't fell guilty modding it! if i was going to spend that much on a car i would get a cuda! for 90k the grand wagoner should fly!

The guy seems to have been selling for a while now. Just use his site for comps when you go to sell yours!
Wait...for that much and they put what looks like a cheesy after market center consol in and just "padded" the arm rests?
I would think they could at least fabricate something to fit better and make it look factory

for 90k I would think they'd get some matching floor mats...

believe me - norbert is doing nice stuff... and he's got a public for it, since he's been doing this kind of business for over ten years.
it's just that we don't play in the same playground. but the stuff is nice! wohoo, very nice.

the seller (which is the guy that bought it from me) is asking quite some money too. but i'm sure that it will go for that!

I can't even get $2000 out of mine! This one is a little nicer than mine but not $88000 nicer!

LMAO
If you saw one of these restored GW's up close and personal you'd be singing a different tune...
These are ground up restorations, dude doesn't scimp on anything.
He is uber-meticulous, and it shows. He spends like 8 months per wag.
Yeah $90k is a s***load of cash for a GW, but it's better than new.
I've seen one @ a car show in LA, and it was absolutely AMAZING.
Also saw a $35k wagonmaster GW once in Santa Barbara, and it looked like an old junker compared to a grandwagoneer.com resto.
Nitpick all you want, but the photos don't even come close to showing the overall quality of these things.

Not really nitpicking but what would you do with it? I could put a couple of thousand into mine and make it VERY nice (It's nice already). I could put $5-10k into it and make it like new. How in the world could you possibly spend $110k restoring a GW and the bigger question is why would you? I don't want a GW to park in my garage and have people say how nice it is. I want one to drive and enjoy. I could have an entire stable of really nice, but usable, GWs for a lot less money and still be able to afford to put gas in them! :drivin:

Every thing I have seen from the guy, is top notch, as for billing out at $100/hr for custom shop time in So. Cal, that is not likely out of line.
I am sure if someone wanted him to build a 401 EFI lifted .... Wagoneer he would.
Like Dan said, I think he plays in the other end of the pool from the rest of us unwashed peons :p

$100 an hour isn't bad. I charge $65 for what I do and I sit in an office all day. Still that is a lot of hours!
Granted - It is a nice GW.

look at it this way: a new porsche cayenne s costs over 130.000usd - and there are plenty of those out there...
a grand wagoneer in better than new condition is unique - and it's definitely harder to find than a porsche.
these guys look for the creme de la creme and want something to differentiate from the crowd...
the grand wagoneer is definitely an icon of the past that is a sure-to-be collectors item in the future... so keep them shinny and nice!!! :-)

But I can get a new Chevy Aveo with my GM points for $6,000 :D
Now show up to the "Club" in an Aveo and you would make a statement, everyone has a Porsche, Ferrari, BMW, .. but how many at the club have an Aveo ?

I I had 90k. I would invest 70k into building a time machine and travel to 1989 and buy one (without haggling the salesman) with the left over 20! anybody want to make an investment into my time machine?

Its really nice but not 90k nice. Would spend that kind of money on a nice garage to work in and to build up a nice waggy.

How long does it take for the drivers side seat start to sag down towards the seat controls? Compare the drivers seat to the passenger seat. Night and day difference but for $90K I want pristine seats that look like new. Also, on the AC, what is the spot between the two vents? Just curious. And whats the big lump on the drivers side of the console just below the junction of the front and back lids? Looks like more than just a shadow compared to the passenger side of the console.
I know I know...pick pick pick :D

$90K and no tripmeter......
and no headrest that is really adjustable to really protect you from whiplash.
Did I say airbag..... when you hit that bear!
Let's be positive: It is very nice.

I don't know... if I recall correctly his wagoneers run for 40k not 90k. Just seems a bit much. Its basically new with a few modifications. A new Wag cost 30k.

100 G's is about the going rate for restoration.
I'd rather buy the one on Ebay which supposedly has origional paint and hasn't been monkey'd with much ???
I don't care how good of shop it's from, there will be bugs to work out.
At any rate alot of cash for a Wag.
At least if U had a muscle car restored and wanted to sell, U'd get most of money back.
Guess the buyer's looking for nice Wag belong to a polo horse club.

Yeah, the one on ebay is a way better deal. I actually wouldn't be scared to start it. 90K is ridicules for a truck that isn't worth a third of that.

90K for a truck that doesn't give BJ's?
Seems like a disapointment to me.
