Well I just pulled off my oil pan AGAIN so I could redo the rear main seal because when I got it put back together last time it was leaking like crazy. Anyway I pulled the rear main cap and I go to pull the upper half of the seal out and it isn't there!! No wonder it was leaking like crazy, I didn't put half of the !#$ing seal in, Oh well I guess practice makes perfect, right? well off I go to put in the new rear main wish me luck!!

I did 4 in 1 month in my 71 back when I was in school.
1st was old
2nd I blocked the vent when doing other stuff while doing the first time
3rd had not figured out the blockage
4th I nicked the lip

at least my exhasut was dual so I did not have to deal with it

If I were you I'd swap in a late model engine.....they've all got one piece rear main seals. :thumbsup:

Naa, I'm happy with my Ford. :cool: Hey, I wouldn't feel too bad if I were you. Lots of folks have done much more damaging things to their engines. I'd rather be the guy who screws up a RMS R&R on my 401 than the guy who gets it right the first time on his 360. :rolleyes:

well it went much better the second time around and faster!! oh yeah and guess what no leaks!!!! yeah now I just need to figure out how to adjust the carb so I can actually drive it. well at least I can scratch the rear main seal off of my list now.:D
