I have an 81 Waggy with 360. When purchased it had all of the emmissions equipment present but not hooked up. Because when I purchased it, it did not run and I was gonna build a new motor I paid very little attention where the vacuum hoses went. I need help in placing the minimum amount of hoses back as emmissions are not required where I live. Here is the scoop, Everything Performer Edelbrock, cam, timing, intake, carb, bored .010 over. I am not hooking any emmissions back up, however my intake manifold and water outlet have several inlets/outlets for vacuum lines. Which ones do I need and which ones do I close off? Please help...Thanks DK

All you REALLY need is a ported vacuum source to your distributor advance, a feed to your power brake booster, and a feed to the vacuum ball on the firewall to run any vacuum-operated things inside (e-drive switch, heater/defroster controls, etc). If you have a CTO screwed into the intake or thermostat housing, it would be worth your while to replace it with a pipe-plug, to eliminate an eyesore and potential point of failure.

When I did a non egr manifold and eddie 1406 I removed everything. I ran vac for power brakes to the manifold fitting, vac advance to the timed port on the carb, PCV, and vac from the "canister" to a fitting on the manifold. No CTO's, lots of left over tubing, much cleaner engine compartment.

OK
GO HERE (http://www.msnusers.com/GwendolynStrong/enginecompartment.msnw?Page=1)for pics. I know, it's messy.
OK, from the front of the carb, go around the side and to the back to the (mental block on the name of the valve) that sticks into the rubber thing in the port on the back of the manifold.
From the front driver's side of carb, go to distributor for advance. Plug off passenger side.
From rear of carb go to brake booster. Plug off two other ports on passenger front of manifold. The other small tap on the driver's side front is actually where the coolant temperature sender goes.
The passenger side very rear is the feed for the heater core.
The passenger side manifold feed is where I chose to come out for the vacuum accessories. It's right behind the carb on the passenger side.
If you need further clarification, let me know
