Well, with this being the first vehicle that I've actually laid down some paint on, all on my own, I'm realistically please with the results. Enamel is easy to spray, and I only got two drapes I need to wet sand.

Enjoy, I still need to spray the contrasting white on the dash, tail gate, wheels, and rear of the cab.

The color is International Harvester Red (same color I painted a CJ with). I'll be using the IH White, which is kind of a creme white or antique white.

I haven't rubbed it out yet.

All in all for my first paint job, I got no fish eyes, and a very light orange peel. Had a 1.5" long mosquito land on the hood, freaking legs made some minor imperfections... oh well, it's gonna be a truck that is gonna get used, I wasn;t looking for a show quality job, that is something I knew I wouldn't be able to do. I don't have the patience for meticulous body work, I'm too eager.

I'm happy with how the small rear window conversion turned out. Maybe the only browless small window Jtruck around, it's "rare".

I just realized, no engine compartment shot..... Shoot, maybe tomorrow.

Looks great. Any tips? I'm getting ready to spray mine here real soon. What was your pressure set at? That's single stage paint I assume?

It's enamel, so yes, it's single stage.

Preparation, sanding, and more sanding, and then more sanding. One thing I've seen, that I used is two layers of primer, one red oxide, the other gray, That way it's much easier to see the highs and lows. Although I did not go crazy with the straightness factor. Again, back to my "this is a truck and it's gonna be used like one" Kind of a clean farmer's truck being taken to church on Sunday.....

oh, yeah, when spraying think multi layers don't try to paint it with the first few passes of the gun. Two much paint at once equals runs and drapes.

:lol:so you grafted a small window cab for the retro look? I thought cave man was retro? Did I miss a generation? :D

That things looks great man. I would love to have a nice solid paint job like that on any of the rigs around here.

I picked up a set up from TSC along with an Vertical 80 gallon compressor lsat spring. I think the gun is a "Farmhand" brand. As for set up info, I dunno, I just bought the stuff and winged it.

Ok, thanks to all the nice comments, it really turned out pretty good for a first attempt. I guess I'm more stoked about the immediate impact I get from it not being in primer. Looks a lot closer to be done.

Biut now it's all the little details that will take some time. Although I'm still shooting for an end of May road-ability time line.
